• Gift in the Gap by Josh Bond

A popular way to beat myself up

      hides in the apparently harmless
      concept of an 'unlived life'
      ◊ plenty of roads-not-taken
      ◊ decisions-not-made
      ◊ opportunities missed
      ◊ potential-not-achieved
      all in a bitter nutshell
      which holds more than
      enough to make me feel
      ◊ inept
      ◊ stupid
      ◊ awkward
      ◊◊◊ a failed human specimen ◊◊◊

      yet in the gap
      between
      the life I live
      and the many I didn't
      lies a precious gift
      a vibrant force
      for moving on
      from stagnation
      towards salvation
      a gift that lends
      direction
      to a life adrift
I only need to find it…

      Author’s Note:

I believe that the whole 1984 dystopian Brave New World is true…

      Some call it the singularity…

It will be a powerful force of control…

To the point of blocking out our connection to the divine…

I believe that art is communing with the divine…

Which is wild when you think of art as a tool of self development…

I think that there is a dark energy that they will never

      be able to control…

A mysterious part of the self they will never be able to access..

Located in the gaps of the self…

I think through art we may access these realms…

And that it brings an energy that is counter to these dark forces…

      • With all the technology and the current state of affairs, it feels like many folks can’t connect or at least reach that higher state of mind.

        Great work here sir.
