What Ifs
What if it’s better
than we thought?
What if the tears
were worth it?
°
Could we be wrong
about what we are sure of?
What if it isn’t
as bad as we think?
°
What if we can do more
than we ever thought possible?
Could our foolish faith
prove to be true?
°
Are we so certain
our childhood fantasies
were fantasy?
°
What if there’s more
than we dreamed of?
What if everything we thought we knew—Was wrong?

Fuck yeah..!
Was just saying how we are
bringing extraordinary energies into the world…
Yet another example…
This is wonderful Kristina…
Makes me think of your ascent into academia…
:ppp
I can really relate…
It’s amazing how much we can be awakened
to possibilities and potentialities that we
never conceived of…
I, too, never really cared about school or
conceived that I could or that it was
important to get straight As…
Then…
I went to college, whilst in prison…
My first class was English and I really had to
adapt to college academic writing…
Twas uniquely challenging…
Somehow I got an A in the class…
(I even had an essay win an award…)
But that first 4.0…
Wow…
Felt amazing…
Then I saw my college brethren
giving a fuck…
Caring about the 4.0…
It made me care…
Also for my mom…
She went back to school and got a 4.0…
(Even despite this I still didnt care about school…)
But my mom believed in me…
A lotta people did…
You are right..!
That makes such a difference…
(It’s super cool how you see how a person can be…
And how negative energy brings people down…
Oh, theres a thing called The Michelangelo Effect…
It’s where you see the sculpture in the stone…
I used to enjoy psychology today magazine…
They have cool terms for different stuff..:)
So yes…
I started taking more classes to a full schedule…
Kept getting As…
Twas crazy…
Dudes would be like…
That’s the smartest guy on the compound…
He’s the best writer I ever seen…
Like crazy favor Kristina…
I am a very humble person, quite honestly…
But you must fully receive and embrace it
when people say good things about you…
To honor them and your self…
I refused the voice of insecurity and politely
thanked them and the universe…
It’s crazy…
A lot of them died, after being released from
prison…
The ones who uplifted me…
It was all the inmates and the professors…
I got the reputation of a genius sorta fellow…
Believe me I was deeply humble within my self…
In prison there are super geniuses…
Intellectual giants, as Shabazz said…
Great ancient wizards sharpened by the wilderness…
For me, I believe that prison was always meant to
be my college and fraternity…
I would rather be of the wilderness…
I would rather be not like most…
Not like any…
Thinking about it…
I can really see the power of others belief in me…
There were the strangers and signposts all along the way…
It’s crazy…
People in free society treated me badly…
I will say…
Tried to make me give up on my self…
Quite honestly…
It’s okay I understand and will never give up never surrender…
Twas hurtful, at the time…
I wasn’t prepared for how hateful and destructive people are…
It’s okay…
Just know that you are makers of monsters…
Many folks in prison are better people than many folks in society…
But yes…
My hero’s journey was compelled by others belief in me…
Tis wild…1 -
Wow. That is a great story!
Both my dad and uncle spent time in prison. So prison has been a part of my psyche since I was a child. I know he read a lot and wrote a lot of poetry. My uncle went to college in prison too.
Thanks for sharing your story with me. 🙂 -
I can’t tell you how many of those what if’s plagued my heart and mind until I pursued some of them.
Relatable strong piece.
