Just Give Me a Minute
I'm living with something that isn't there
a most mysterious nothing a construct of my earthbound mind, unique in the Milky Way although it is neither here nor there nor does it exist at all, it's giving me the hardest time demanding my life and my money it latches onto my mind each day makes my waking hours go runny counts every second, month and year a race of my own making futuristic it's a sharp pain in the throat with fear, apprehension and worry about all that has not happened yet and most likely never will obsolete it comes with a blow to the back fills my guts with guilt, shame and regret all the things buried by dust of the past dregs and dross I can no longer change this most mysterious nothing called time has superpowers almighty it pushes me straight out of my life I feel chased from cradle to grave I try to ignore it, find peace in my heart live in the present now, take a break from my thoughts to experience for once a fleeting moment of bliss without the stress of future and past my soul finds the freedom she needs allows me to be myself for a jiff if I can find the right timing my soul seeks her way home whenever I manage to squint beyond the senseless chase of nothings on the merry-go-round to nowhere Just give me a minute to step out of this race against the time of this world so I can live in my own time at last if only for a short while
