The Dream Collector
The dream-collector rode into town
with a faithful old horse and a rickety cart “Any old dreams you no longer want… declutter your lives, it will make a good start” And people came running to give him their dreams dug out from attics from cupboards and boxes “here’s my dear dream…” with tears in their eyes they handed them over, knew they were precious “I am too old … it’s surely unlikely … "I can’t live my dream … my partner has left … "I’m lacking the energy, focus and money … "Here, take my dream, it’s too much to heft …” The dream-collector takes them away piled high on the cart, tied down in a stack and storing them safe, he’s hoping one day that someone, or anyone, claims them back For dream-collectors cherish all dreams ‘they must have a life’ he hastes to explain they are not nothings, they’re vibrant and waiting for someone to nurture them, ending their pain And slowly a movement of folks alivening claiming the dreams, find ways to be free and dreams give them life, surprises and joy as humans rebalance the ‘do’ and the ‘be’ The dream-collector is long living still he keeps them safe for ever and ever waiting for more to join the ranks of those who declare “I’ll never say never.”
