Your Children are Always Your Children (part 2)
(continued from part 1) ... your children may turn out not to feel like your children you may not relate to each other as kindred spirits they may not honour you as their elder they may not respect you as a father they may seem more like aliens they may manipulate you they may humiliate you they may deceive you they can become tyrants dictating their expectations and rules mandating total and unconditional sacrifice for the role their elusive child mind has designed for you around an idol of a perfect parent their child mind is unable to see you as a fallible fellow human their child mind sees you as a parental genie powerful and ready to fulfill their wildest wishes and whims even after they have long since grown into adults and parents themselves they may not behave like the children you dreamed of when they were mere twinkles in their father's eye they may become a pain in your arse and a noose around your neck they have the power to keep that cursed chalice topped up the chalice that contains the poison drink you were drip-fed throughout your own childhood feeding you with each drop the deadly message: I have no right to my own life! and what do you do? how do you teach your children the things you wanted to teach them when it's too late in life? you don't you continue loving them unconditionally because that’s the kind of father you are and because your children are always your children
